Brushing is a surface treatment used to complete other processes; through the use of one or more sets of brushes fitted on a polishing machine, brushing gives a varyingly rough surface. The chromatic effect of brushing is similar to the effect achieved with the polished and honed finishes: the more the surface is brushed, the more it tends to show a deeper tone and a marked orange-peel effect.
