The Consortium, established in 1965 by a group of far-sighted craftsmen, operates to protect and promote this product and to provide services to companies and designers.

The Consortium was a winning choice that has made the product known all over the world and made it possible to obtain, in 2001, the European Collective Mark that certifies the authenticity, origin, geological characteristics, petrographic composition, and physical and mechanical properties of Pietra Piasentina. In 2004 the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia gave official recognition to the Pietra Piasentina Production District.
